Cambridge (CIE) A Level Biology 9700 Past Papers, Mark Schemes and Examiners' Reports
Cambridge International AS & A Level Biology (9700) past papers from February/March 2016 to October/November 2025, each with its mark scheme, plus the examiners' report for each series where Cambridge has published one and, from 2022, Cambridge's grade thresholds. From 2022 every time-zone variant is here; for 2016 to 2021 there is one variant of each paper. Use the switch to choose the AS papers (1–3) or the A level papers (4–5). On a phone, tap a series to open it.
How to get the most from a paper
- Do it timed, in one sitting, with no notes: 1 hour 15 minutes for Papers 1, 2 and 5, and 2 hours for Paper 4.
- Mark it yourself with the mark scheme. Be strict: if your wording isn't on the scheme, don't give yourself the mark.
- For every question you dropped marks on, read what the examiners' report says about it. That is where you find out what the examiners actually wanted.
Paper 1 is 40 multiple-choice marks, Paper 2 is out of 60, Paper 3 (practical) out of 40, Paper 4 out of 100 and Paper 5 out of 30. AS Level is Papers 1, 2 and 3; the full A Level adds Papers 4 and 5.

QP = question paper, MS = mark scheme; the number is the paper and its time-zone variant (42 = Paper 4, variant 2). Every variant tests the same syllabus with different questions, so any of them is good practice. For 2016 to 2021 one variant of each paper is listed. Each link opens the PDF in a new tab. Compare grade thresholds across every series.
