How to get the most from a paper
- Do it timed, in one sitting, with no notes: 2 hours for each A level paper, 1 hour 30 minutes for each AS paper.
- Mark it yourself with the mark scheme. Be strict: if your wording isn't on the scheme, don't give yourself the mark.
- For every question you dropped marks on, read what the examiners' report says about it. That is where you find out what the examiners actually wanted.
Each A level paper is out of 100 marks (300 in all). AS Papers 1 and 2 are out of 80 each. Paper 3 questions are partly based on a pre-release scientific article, which Pearson sends to schools before the exam.
The examiners' reports for AS October 2020 and AS June 2022 Paper 2 were never published by Pearson. June 2026 papers appear here once Pearson releases them.
