How to get the most from a paper

  1. Do it timed, in one sitting, with no notes: 1 hour 45 minutes for A level Papers 1 and 2, 2 hours 30 minutes for Paper 3, and 1 hour 30 minutes for each AS paper.
  2. Mark it yourself with the mark scheme. Be strict: if your wording isn't on the scheme, don't give yourself the mark.
  3. For every question you dropped marks on, read what the examiners' report says about it. That is where you find out what the examiners actually wanted.

A level Papers 1 and 2 are out of 90 marks and Paper 3 is out of 120 (300 in all). AS Papers 1 and 2 are out of 80 each.

Pearson published no examiners' reports for June 2017, or for AS in October 2020 and November 2021 (too few entries). June 2026 papers appear here once Pearson releases them.

QP = question paper, MS = mark scheme, ER = examiners' report. Each link opens the PDF in a new tab. Compare grade boundaries across every year.
